Developing and implementing a rapid, field deployable CRISPR-based method (SHERLOCK) to genetically identify run-type of Chinook salmon. Of the four run-types in the Central Valley, CA, winter and spring-run salmon are listed as endangered and threatened, so accurate identification of run-type is important for population management. We are working closely with the California Department of Water Resources on this project.
